Rusted Tanks – pencil, brush pen, pen & ink and watercolour
During a walk around my neighbourhood this past fall I happened to spy a couple of old rusted industrial tanks. The two tanks were sitting in the vacant West Don Lands. I thought they looked striking and interesting because of their textures and colours. And, also due to the vast grey, gravelly surroundings in contrast. The area is slated to become a large residential area with public green space and also home of the athlete’s village for the 2015 Pan American Games.
Gary and I walked past the area a little more recently and saw that the tanks had been removed. For now you can still see where they were in the Wikipedia link for the West Don Lands.

It was definitely a good idea to capture them while you still had the chance. It’s amazing how quickly landscapes change in this city nowadays. Definitely nice to document things whenever possible.
I think the second one is my favourite.
Cheers!
